Click the button below for a list of city owned properties that you can have your event.

To host your own public event click the button below to fill out the application.

If your event is on a road make sure to fill out the private use and road closure application.

All applications should be submitted at least one month before event date unless you are requesting to use a PennDot road then application must be submitted at least 3 months before event date. Click button below for a map of all PennDot roads.

Any questions regarding having an event on city property just call the mayor's office at 570-286-7820

Deliver completed application with Certificate of Insurance to the Mayor's Office or email arissinger@sunburypa.org

City Park Cleanup

City of Sunbury Park Cleanup

The City of Sunbury each year during Earth Week holds a cleanup. The cleanup helps to cleanup the many parks within the city. The Highschool students, volunteers, and city workers help make this event such a success at making Sunbury a beautiful place.

Music in the Park

Music in the Park

Music in the park starts on the first Tuesday in June. Each Tuesday a band will perform in Cameron Park from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The last day of the season is on the third Tuesday in August.

Sunbury Celebration

Date: July 8th - 9th, 2022

Each year the City holds a 2 day event to celebrate the 4th of July and Sunbury's founding. The event has vendors of all kinds (Food Vendors, Craft Vendors, and many others). The last day there is a huge Firework display.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July

Date: TBA

Christmas-themed Artisan, Craft and Vendor show with activities, entertainment, and seasonal music. This is an annual fundraising event with the goal of getting the community in the "Christmas spirit" during the summer season. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive at 12pm!

National Night Out

Date: August 1nst, 2022

This event is on the first Tuesday in August at the James R. Eister Youth and Community Center. This event is designed to help the kids be able to connect with the police department, Fire department, armed services, and many other organizations. There are numerous things for the kids to do such as prizes, activities with multiple organizations, firetrucks, military equipment, police cars, demonstrations, and so much more for kids to enjoy.

Halloween Parade

Date:  October 19th

Time:  Start time 7pm 

The Sunbury Fire Police holds annual Halloween parade on the third Thursday in October.

Attention All, the Halloween Parade route has returned to the Original Route. We look forward to seeing you!

  1. Sunbury Halloween Parade Thursday October 19th is back to original route after approval from Penn Dot. Road Closure Permit being received yesterday (10/19/2022). Parade Route: Beginning on Walnut Street in Front of High School turning on to S 10th to (L) onto Market Street then ® on to Nth 4th Street ending in the Beiter’s Plaza.  Parade expecting to step off at 7pm sharp.  Asking residents to move all vehicles from the Parade Route by 5pm, Vehicles will be towed if not moved!!

Hallway of Treats

Hallway of Treats

Date:  October 27th 

Time:  11am - 3pm

Each year City employees dress up and hand out gifts and candy to all the ghosts, zombies, transformers, princesses and all other costumes the kids wear. This a great way for kids to interact with city employees and of course get candy!

Santa Parade

Santa Parade

Traditionally Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in the City the Friday after Thanksgiving. Escorted by the parade Grand Marshal, Sunbury Fire Department and community participants. Parade begins at 6pm. Travels South on Raspberry Avenue, West onto 10th Street, then North on Market Street to Cameron Park.

Tree Lighting Ceremony

The official opening of the Christmas season in the City of Sunbury. Santa and the Mayor light the City Christmas tree in Cameron Park. Come enjoy holiday sounds of the Sunbury City Band while enjoying free Cookies and Hot Chocolate.

Santa House

Santa House Visits

Santa and Mrs. Claus visit with children of all ages and their well behaved, leashed pets. Each child that visits the Santa House gets to choose their own reading book sponsored by Santa’s Gift of Reading.

The Santa House is located at the south end of Cameron Park. There is no charge to visit or take your own pictures!

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

Ugly Sweater

This annual event is held at the Sunbury Ice Rink. FREE Admission includes Skate Rental, Ice Skating, Cookie Decorating, Snacks and Door Prizes! Don’t forget to wear your UGLY Sweater!

New Years Eve Celebration

New Years Eve Celebration

Tentative NYE Plan

On December 31st from 12:00pm to 4:30pm at the community center we plan to offer a safe family location with live entertainment from 7 Mountains Broadcasting with giveaways. Admission will be free!

On December 31st from 7:30pm to 12:00am at Cameron Park. We plan on having a countdown to midnight with the lighting of our famous Edison Light Bulb Drop to bring in the New year by hosting a Winter Wine and Brew Festival. We plan to offer live bands, entertainment, wineries, breweries, distilleries, local pubs, clubs, and food trucks. A special End Zone Tent will host the multiple college games on a large screen, along with giveaways and other extra activities.

Please note that this is just tentative and some stuff plans may not happen or better yet more stuff could be added. Keep checking our website for more information as we get closer to the celebration.
